Animals poisoned in Llapllasella, Gracanica – organizations demand urgent investigation and institutional responsibility

A disturbing incident has been reported in the village of Llapllasella in the municipality of Gracanica, where several animals were found dead as a suspected result of poisoning. The case has raised great concern among residents and activists who have long cared for stray dogs and cats in the area.
According to the organization "Animal Rights Foundation", who made the complaint, “this act of cruelty has undone all the community's efforts to feed and keep these animals safe.” The organization emphasizes that such deliberate violence against animals is alarming and requires an immediate investigation, adding that the perpetrators must be held legally accountable.
"This is a crime that represents a danger to the wider community. Violence against animals is not an isolated issue," the response states, also mentioning that the case has been officially reported to the Police and that the act constitutes a violation of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
The organization calls on responsible institutions to take urgent measures to identify the perpetrators, while appealing to citizens to write to the Municipality of Gracanica and other municipalities to implement legal obligations regarding the humane management of the dog population. The response emphasizes the need for public education, owner responsibility, sterilization of street animals, and protection of animals living in the community.
The organization has announced that once the contacts of the responsible officials of the Municipality of Gracanica are secured, they will be shared with the public to facilitate communication and the request for the prevention of such cruel cases in the future. /Telegrafi/
