Political analysts Imer Mushkolaj and Visar Ymeri have commented on the reaction of the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, who came to the defense of this party's MP, Besian Mustafa, after his statement that the LDK had made a serious mistake when it voted for Hashim Thaçi for president.
Abdixhiku's reaction was described as unnecessary and with unacceptable language by Mushkolaj.
"This was an unnecessary reaction, with unacceptable language. This is language that we have repeatedly condemned in the television studio, especially when it came from Vetëvendosje officials. This, in my opinion, is an attempt for Mr. Abdixhiku to shift the blame for his failures as LDK chairman elsewhere," Mushkolaj declared on RTV Dukagjini.
He added that the responsibility for LDK's electoral losses does not lie with the media or journalists, but with the party itself.
"It should be borne in mind that neither the media, nor journalists, nor opinion leaders are to blame for the LDK's defeat. The LDK itself is to blame," he emphasized.
Analyst Visar Ymeri has also harshly condemned the language used by Abdixhiku towards the media and the critical community, describing it as typical of populist discourse.
"This language is a reflection of a tendency to divide society between 'US' and 'THEM', which is a basic mechanism of populism. This does not suit a democratic party that aims for a liberal society," Ymeri said.
According to him, it is not fair to label every criticism as ordered or paid for, without having concrete facts.
"Not everyone who disagrees with you is a fake or paid by someone. This type of thinking is wrong, unless you have facts, which you then have to publish," Ymeri emphasized.
Finally, Ymeri added that the election of the LDK leadership is an internal matter of the party, emphasizing that the responsibility for its leadership lies with the members themselves.
"If they think they can move forward with Lumir Abdixhiku, let them continue with him. It's their decision," Ymeri concluded.
