Despite "Trump's support," Tesla doesn't seem to be seeing its best days.

Earlier this week, Donald Trump staged what was believed to be something presidential: a press conference at the White House, convened to boost a company's fortune.

"Wow, that's beautiful," Trump told Tesla CEO Elon Musk as they climbed into a parked red Model S.

And so Trump seemed to want to assure reporters that Tesla is "a great product."

He promised to buy one himself and pay for it with a personal check.

But Trump didn't do this because of his passion for cars, he writes. yahoonews, the Telegraph reports.

Across the country, people have begun to express their dissatisfaction with Trump and Musk's policies using the only tool available: protest.

Demonstrations outside Tesla factories have become weekly events.

Many Tesla owners are selling their cars. Others are vandalizing them.

And that backlash has led the company to a bad year. It saw its shares fall from an all-time high of around $480 in December to $220 as of Monday.

It seems Musk is paying for it too as his net worth is dwindling.

It is reported that the promise to buy a Tesla is not the only reason Trump has used his podium.

The president also vowed to treat the Tesla vandalism as "domestic terrorism."

Musk's X platform, by contrast, is a place where he can speak directly to an audience. Earlier this week, the billionaire said the app was hit by a "massive cyberattack" originating in Ukraine - an explanation that experts dismissed as "unconvincing."

SpaceX, which has also recently suffered setbacks, is a private company that relies heavily on government contracts worth billions of dollars.

But by protesting in front of Tesla factories and selling and vandalizing them, Americans are apparently hitting Trump where it hurts the most: Musk. /Telegraph/
