A New York woman says she was stopped by airport officials because her powdered lubricant was mistaken for a dangerous or illegal substance.

Lana Madison, 29, was allegedly questioned along with her boyfriend at an airport in Mexico City, saying security was confused by "white powder," the Telegraph reports.

"Some of them gathered around, taking pictures and trying to figure out what it was and why we had it. They were completely confused," Madison stated in an interview with Jam Press.

"They took us aside for 30 minutes. I thought they were overdoing it and needed to calm down," the model further recalled.

While Madison doesn't speak Spanish, her boyfriend was able to translate a few things - and was forced to point out the role of substance.

"The funny part was when he actually made a gesture with his fingers in the air to demonstrate how it could be used," declared one traveler.

Soon after, red-faced airport officials realized the powder wasn't illegal, but Madison wasn't at all embarrassed.

"It's a concentrated powder that contains polyethylene polymer - the same ingredient in bubble solution. We mix it with water to make it slippery and use it as a lubricant," the blonde said.

"It's easier to pack, and one bottle makes about 11 liters of lube. Eventually, after much discussion – and realizing we weren't criminals – they let us keep the lube," she explained.

However, Madison has learned her lesson, saying she will make sure to pack the powder in her checked luggage in the future to avoid any unwanted questioning. /Telegraph
