American Chamber and CBK discuss advancing the payments system and challenges of the financial sector

The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo organized a meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo, Ahmet Ismaili, attended by representatives of AmCham member companies, representatives of the US Embassy in Kosovo, as well as international financial institutions.
According to the OEAK announcement, the stability of the financial sector, the main macroeconomic developments, the activities of the Central Bank in terms of key strategic reforms, as well as the advancement of the regulatory and supervisory framework, were some of the topics of discussion during the meeting with Governor Ismaili. He also elaborated on developments in the banking sector, confirming the adequacy of the main soundness of banks, including the level of capitalization, liquidity and stability of the financial system in general.
"Also, Governor Ismaili presented the actions taken by the CBK towards advancing the payment system, including the expected benefits for businesses from Kosovo's membership in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), as well as developments related to the project for the creation of a fast payment system - TIPS Clone, as an important infrastructure for the entire economy. These initiatives were welcomed and supported by members of the American Chamber, who agreed on the importance of inter-institutional communication and the need to make progress in this regard, with an emphasis on SEPA membership," the statement said.
Thanking the American Chamber for the invitation, Governor Ismaili valued the platform for discussion with representatives of the private sector as important, with the aim of understanding the challenges as accurately as possible, re-emphasizing their role as important contributors to the country's economy and the financial sector.
He further engaged in discussions with participants on various topics, including the regulatory framework of the financial sector and access to finance. The need for business to advance regulation for alternative financing channels through the capital market, support for innovations, as well as current initiatives that support the internationalization and financial integration of the country with European and American markets was mentioned.
For his part, the Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce, Arian Zeka, thanked Governor Ismaili for his willingness to discuss with private sector representatives and expressed the Chamber's commitment to contributing to a constructive dialogue with the CBK, highly appreciating the CBK's commitment and results in several pillars, engaging in transparency and open communication between institutions. /Telegrafi/
