Eight Durrës prison officials have been arrested after Altin Ndoc's spectacular escape yesterday.
More specifically, the six police officers who were involved in escorting the prisoner, the Deputy Chief of Prison Police (the chief was on leave) and the head nurse of the hospital were arrested.
The arrests were carried out by the Internal Control Service in the Prison System and the Prosecutor's Office.

How did the escape happen?
At around 13:00 on Tuesday, he was escorted by two police officers to the infectious disease ward along with another convict. While waiting for the medical examination, he asked to go to the toilet. Upon leaving, he took advantage of the situation and struck the prison police officer guarding him by surprise and immediately ran away, where a white Audi vehicle was waiting for him, in which he left.
The officer who chased Ndoc in his escape fired his service weapon at the ground and the bullet ricocheted. His shell ended up on the stairs of the Infectious Diseases Unit, while his shell casing has not yet been found.
Investigations to date show that the escort protocols for the number of prison police officers who must accompany detained or convicted persons during their medical visits have not been respected. /Tch/Telegrafi/
