Ali Ahmeti from Skopje: The Hague Tribunal should give recognition to former KLA leaders, not punish them

Ali Ahmeti today from Skopje called for the acquittal of former KLA leaders, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi, as well as other soldiers accused by the Hague Tribunal. Ahmeti, in his speech from "Skënderbeg" Square, said that the former KLA leaders are accused of acts they never committed, saying that they fought for the freedom of the people.
Ahmeti also said that the Hague Tribunal should give recognition and praise to former KLA leaders, not condemn them.
"The KLA condemned every fascist action and action against the civilian population. The KLA declared itself the people's army fighting for the freedom of its people. It is a great truth that we did not achieve the great objective of building a hierarchy, therefore we would not want the accusations made about the yellow house, the accusations made about a joint criminal enterprise to tarnish the history of the liberation war."
"This process must end in innocence, as Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi and soldiers who are behind bars are accused of crimes they did not commit. We have followed the entire process and our skin trembled when we heard the accusations that Belgrade and Moscow had made against us, as criminals and bandits. We have loved freedom, but not by denying freedom to other peoples," said Ahmeti.
He also stressed that today's protest is not against the state of Macedonia, adding that the former KLA leaders who are in The Hague have contributed to the stability and future of North Macedonia.
He also mentioned the testimonies of General Wesley Clark, James Rubin and Christopher Hill, for whom he expressed gratitude.
"We are grateful for the testimony of General Clark, grateful to James Rubin, as well as the ambassador who worked hard in the region for peace and stability, Christopher Hill," said Ahmeti. /Telegraph/
