Albanian woman and Serbian man threatened by some Serbs from Banjska, asked to leave

The village of Banjska in the Zveçan Municipality was a haven for dozens of terrorists in September 2023 and thus became even more well-known.

However, some locals have had trouble living there because three people have threatened a family, repeatedly asking them to leave the village.

The television has learned that the threat was made by several citizens of the Serbian community towards a mixed family. The woman is from Albania and the man is a Serb from Kosovo.

The police that manages the north did not provide many details in order not to harm the victims of the threats.

But, despite this, the deputy director for the northern region denies that the case is related to interethnic problems.

"We cannot say that there is an interethnic conflict here. A case of intimidation has been presented to us. One person has been interviewed as a suspect and two others we are interested in interviewing, but it was certainly not a very serious threat because the person should have been detained. He was released in a regular procedure and the whole case is going through a regular procedure," said the deputy director of the police for the north, Veton Elshani.

This family had been threatened several times, until they decided to notify the Kosovo Police.

"I can't say anything about the case because it is being investigated, but usually if we have threats from people geographically closer, then it is repeated several times until the police are notified, so it is not something new for us," Elshani added.

According to unofficial data, in the region of the four northern municipalities there are over 17 marriages between Albanian women from Albania and Serbs from Kosovo.Dukagjin/
