Kosovo has submitted a request for recognition to the new Syrian government led by President Ahmad Al-Shaara.

The letter from Pristina came a few days after a surprising offensive by the HTS military organization that removed the dictatorial regime of Bashar Al-Assad from power.

Abu Qatada Albani, known as the leader of Albanian fighters in Syria, said that there is an official request for recognition.

In an interview in Damascus for the show "Interaktiv Talks" by journalist Xhemajl Rexha, he said that "unfortunately the request came from a very low level, not from the President, not the Prime Minister, not the Foreign Minister, not the Deputy Foreign Minister, but the Deputy Minister of Local Government."

Abu Qatada Albani has said that he and other Albanians are working to have Syria recognize Kosovo's independence very soon, but Kosovo must also recognize the new government, like other countries in the region and in the West.
