Albanian Diaspora Business Chamber: Around 2.25 million Albanians live abroad

Albanians living and working outside the country's borders represent an extraordinary potential for economic development.
This is not only through remittances, which exceed the value of 1 billion euros per year, but also through expertise and a network of collaborations.
But how large is the Albanian diaspora in the world today?
The Diaspora Business Chamber has published figures regarding Albanians living abroad and their gender breakdown.
"There is still no completely accurate figure for the Albanian diaspora, due to the complexity that characterizes this phenomenon. However, according to the latest data from the Institute of Statistics, for the year 2025, the new Albanian diaspora is estimated at around 2.25 million citizens abroad or around 49% of the total Albanian citizens," the Diaspora Business Chamber's post states.
According to official statistics, outside the territory of Albania there are an estimated 2,256,346 individuals, where:
1,177,529 are male
1,078,817 are women
The age structure shows a young and economically active profile:
18% are 0–14 years old
77% are 15–64 years old
5% are over 65 years old
"This means that the Albanian diaspora is not just a statistic, it is a new, productive human capital with high potential for economic, professional and strategic contribution," emphasizes the Diaspora Business Chamber.
