Albania opened the next group-chapter of negotiations with the European Union, which leads to 4 of the 6 group chapters for which negotiations are starting.

In Brussels from Tirana were the three ministers representing the country at the table with the EU: Foreign Affairs Minister Igli Hasani, Chief Negotiator Majlinda Dhuka, and Minister Adea Pirdeni.

"Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth" is the group of chapters that Albania opens out of 6 in total, ranking ahead of Serbia, which opened negotiations in 2014, yet has not managed to open all negotiating chapters with the EU in a decade.

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, who led the Albanian delegation in Brussels, says that this step is a reflection of Albania's progress on the path towards the EU. He also underlines that our journey towards the EU has never been so clear or more determined.

"A new cornerstone laid with the official opening of Group Chapter 3 - Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth - during the 5th Intergovernmental Conference held in Brussels. The opening of 8 new chapters today reflects Albania's merit-based progress and is a clear indicator of how much we have achieved in a very short time", says Hasani, writes Shqiptarja.

Prime Minister Edi Rama today praised the high pace at which Albania's integration into the EU is being worked on, following the opening of the third group chapter today in Brussels. The leader of the majority reacted through a post on his personal Facebook account, stating that "Albania's path towards the EU continues unabated."

"So far, negotiations have been opened for 24 chapters in just 8 months and only 11 more remain to be opened - an extremely high pace that shows Albania's progress and the EU's support to achieve the common objective of closing negotiations in 2027," Rama said, among other things.
