After 20 years of legal battle with her husband's family, Shyhrete Berisha has won the right to the house in which she lived with her husband and children, who were killed during the war.

The case has been approved by the final instance of the Court of Appeal.

During the war, Shyhrete Berisha was forced to jump from a Serbian army truck that was carrying about 50 victims of the Berisha family from Suhareka, as the only way to escape.

Of all the victims in the truck, Shyhrete Berisha had escaped along with her son, Gramos, and her cousin Vjosa. She had managed to survive, overcoming other deadly challenges until the end of the war.

But the war, for Shyhrete Berisha, was not over.

She had lost her husband and four children who had been barbarically killed by Serbian army forces, and along with them she had realized that she had also lost her home.

Shyhrete Berisha belongs to half of the house. This was decided in 2017 by the Basic Court of Prizren - Suhareka Branch, in its verdict on this matter.

The two defendants, Arben and Xhelal Berisha, were given the alternative option of paying Shyhrete Berisha the amount of 130 thousand euros, the amount the share of the house was valued at.

The verdict of the Basic Court of Prizren, branch in Suhareka, in addition to half of the house where he lived, has confirmed that Berisha enjoys ownership rights in two other properties. /GAZETA10/
