Alp Krasniqi, the 8-year-old from Gjilan, who was reported missing on Sunday, April 27, has been found safe and well.
The news was announced by the Kosovo Search and Rescue Association (KSRA).
"The search and rescue operation in Gjilan has been successfully completed. The child has been found and is safe."
"We thank all the citizens, volunteers and institutions who mobilized and supported us in this mission. Together we once again showed the power of solidarity and dedication," the announcement says.
Alpi had disappeared from home around 15:30 p.m. on Sunday, and given that he suffers from autism, the concern was greater.
After the call for help, local authorities, including police and volunteer search and rescue groups, immediately launched an intensive search on the ground, also using drones to get a wider view of the area and increase the chances of finding him.
Many local citizens were also involved in the search without hesitation.
