After a powerful explosion at one of Putin's largest weapons factories, a state of emergency is declared in the Russian region

A state of emergency has been declared in Russia's Vladimir region after an explosion.

It is not clear what caused the explosion at this time, the Telegraph reports.

Telegram channels close to Russian security services said the explosion occurred near a weapons arsenal near the village of Barsovo.

Vladimir regional governor Alexander Avdeev said an explosion had occurred in the Kirzhach district and emergency personnel were working at the scene.

However, he did not provide details on what was damaged or whether there were any casualties. The region lies just east of Moscow.
