After Luka Modric, Fabrizio Romano confirms next departure from Real Madrid

The second Real Madrid player to leave the club this summer has been confirmed, with Xabi Alonso expected to be introduced.

It has been a terrible season for Los Blancos, as they failed to win a domestic trophy, losing La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup to arch-rivals Barcelona.

The only trophy Madrid won this season was the UEFA Super Cup in August 2024. As a result, it is expected to be a summer of big changes for the Spanish giants.

Carlo Ancelotti will leave the Bernabeu to take over as coach of the Brazilian national team, with former player Alonso expected to replace the Italian.

As for incoming players, Bournemouth star Dean Huijsen and Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold are said to be close to a move to the Spanish capital.

He wrote on social media: "BREAKING NEWS: Lucas Vazquez is set to leave Real Madrid in July, plans confirmed."

"After the Club World Cup, Lucas will leave the club, ready for a new chapter as a free agent; everything is decided."

In addition to Vasquez, experienced midfielder Luka Modric has also decided to leave the club.

Vazquez came through the youth ranks at Madrid before making his debut with the first team in 2015.
