Additional details emerge from excavations at the “Përzhina” location in Rahovec

The Government Commission for Missing Persons has announced that field activities have continued at the "Przhina" location in Rahovec, as part of the resumption of assessment excavations for persons missing during the war in Kosovo.
According to the announcement, excavations have been conducted over the last two days by teams of competent institutions, including forensic teams from the Institute of Forensic Medicine, EULEX experts, with the support of the Government Commission for Missing Persons and the Police Directorate for the Investigation of War Crimes - Missing Persons Sector, as well as in the presence of representatives of local institutions of the Municipality of Rahovec.
"Upon the resumption of works, on Thursday, March 4, 2026, bone fragments were found, which were exhumed and sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine," the announcement states.
According to the same source, during the works carried out the day before, mortal remains were also found, which according to initial assessments may belong to at least one individual.
"However, the exact number of individuals and their identities will be confirmed after the completion of forensic examinations and relevant analyses, including identification through DNA," the announcement further states.
Authorities announce that excavations will continue in the coming days, until the location and area marked with interest are fully assessed.
The Government Commission on Missing Persons has emphasized that the process is being carried out in inter-institutional coordination with relevant institutions and justice bodies, with the aim of clarifying the fate and location of persons forcibly disappeared during the war in Kosovo.
"The Government Commission for Missing Persons remains committed to this process and will continue its engagement until the conclusion of this phase of excavations, informing the public in a regular and transparent manner, with particular sensitivity towards the families," the announcement states. /Telegrafi/
