Activists pour soup over two Van Gogh paintings in London - arrested by police

Supporters of Just Stop Oil have thrown soup at two works by the famous painter Vincent van Gogh, just hours after two activists of this organization were sentenced to prison for targeting one of these same works of art.

Three protesters threw orange colored soup over the 1888 and 1889 masterpieces at the National Gallery during an exhibition in central London.

They were arrested on suspicion of causing material damage and committing a criminal act, Telegrafi reports.

Earlier, Phoebe Plummer, 23, was sentenced to two years in prison, while Anna Holland, 22, to 20 months, both of whom had shouldered the 1888 Luledielli work during an action in October 2022.

The art gallery said two paintings were targeted on Friday, but that both have been removed for examination and found to be undamaged. /Telegraph/
