"Accidents, injuries and suicides", Syla: The number of cases at the Emergency Clinic is increasing year by year

During the podcast "Health First", supported by United Hospital The director of the Emergency Clinic at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK), Naser Syla, has announced that the number of patients seeking help at this clinic is continuously increasing.
According to him, this year alone, the Emergency Clinic has treated 99,017 patients, while by the end of the year this number is expected to exceed 100,000 patients, which, according to Syla, is beyond any control.
"Each clinic publishes its own statistics at the end of the year. At the Emergency Clinic, we had 99,017 patients and this number will exceed 100 by the end of the year. This is out of control and very worrying," Syla declared.
He emphasized that unlike European countries, where the number of cases referred to the tertiary level is declining year by year, the opposite is happening in Kosovo.
According to him, the tertiary level, in addition to professional treatment, should have an educational role and focus on preparing new medical staff, such as specialists and students.
"The number of patients in our country is constantly increasing, which indicates an overload of the healthcare system," he added.
Syla announced that an increase has also been recorded in the number of traffic accidents.
During this year, 7,207 cases have been registered, compared to 6,894 cases last year.
The number of patients seeking emergency help for cardiovascular diseases is also increasing, as is the number of injured people.
As Syla said, this year 111 wounded people have been treated, while last year this number was 101.
Another serious concern, according to the director of the Emergency Clinic, is the increase in cases of attempted suicide.
"Also, the number of people who have attempted suicide is around 450 cases compared to the previous year, which was 402 cases," said Syla.
