Abraham Quintanilla, Selena's father and manager, dies at 86

Abraham Quintanilla Jr., the father and manager of Latin music icon Selena, has died at the age of 86.
The news was announced by his son, AB Quintanilla III, in an Instagram post: "It is with a broken heart that I inform you that my father passed away today." The cause of death has not been announced.
Born on February 22, 1939 in Corpus Christi, Texas, Quintanilla began his musical career as a teenager with the vocal group Dinos and later formed Selena y Los Dinos to promote the talent of his daughter, Selena Quintanilla-Perez, writes Variety.

He served as the group's manager and leader, helping to catapult Selena to success and challenging the male-dominated Tejano industry.
After Selena's tragic death on March 31, 1995, Quintanilla remained the guardian of her artistic legacy, working as an executive producer on the biographical film "Selena" (1997) and being part of numerous documentary and music projects honoring her life.

He also founded the Selena Foundation and continued to mentor young talent through his company, Q-Productions.
Quintanilla remains a central figure in the history of Latin music, leaving behind a rich and unforgettable legacy for his daughter and her fans around the world. /Telegraph/
