AUVA issues 15 fines for operators with unsafe food near schools

The Food and Veterinary Agency (AUVA) has issued fifteen bans to food operators as part of the 445 inspection controls it has carried out in the last ten days.
As unsafe, the AUVA has seized and destroyed without harm 696 kilograms of unsafe food and food from unknown suppliers.
The focus of the inspections was on food facilities and operators located in the immediate vicinity of schools (primary and secondary) where students most frequently purchase food.
The checks carried out determined that 19 operators were placing unsafe food on the market, 30 were found to have unsatisfactory hygiene requirements for food safety, and of the total number of those checked, 26 were not registered as food operators with the Food and Veterinary Agency.
Sixteen operators had not implemented the procedures for Good Hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practices, and a full 32 had not carried out a mandatory health and sanitary examination of employees. Three operators did not carry out mandatory disinfection, disinfection and deratization in the facilities, and 7 of the controlled facilities did not meet the technical conditions for carrying out the activity.
Inappropriately labeled food was found at seven food operators during inspections.
Fines were also imposed on 77 operators for identified non-compliances, with a total value of 36,470 euros in MKD equivalent. 103 decisions with orders to eliminate identified non-compliances were issued and 23 warnings were also issued.
