The Food and Veterinary Agency has banned the import of live poultry and their products from Poland after the presence of Avian Influenza (HPAI–H5N1) disease was confirmed.

The FVA has announced that it will monitor the situation further and the measure remains in force until further assessment.

The FVA has excluded from the decision products originating from farms unaffected by the disease and located 50km away from the affected areas.

"In order to protect animal health and food safety in the Republic of Kosovo, the FVA imposes an immediate ban on the import of live poultry and their products from the affected areas. Unless they originate from farms unaffected by the disease, which are located within a radius of 50 km from the affected areas," the FVA announcement states.

The disease has been identified on commercial, family farms and in wild birds in the Lubuskie, Wielkopolskie, Kodzkie and Podlaskie regions.
