A strong hailstorm hit Croatia – downed trees, flooded buildings

Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds has caused a number of problems and material damage in several locations across Croatia.

According to the Croatian Civil Protection Service, firefighters and other competent services are on the ground and are working to remove the consequences of the bad weather.

In the Osijek region, many reports have been received from citizens about flooding in storage areas, basements and garages. In Čepin, problems with the electricity supply have been noted, while the relevant services have been immediately notified and are working to repair the defects.


As a result of the strong wind that hit Slavonski Brod, a tree fell on the old bus station building. No material damage or injuries were reported. Firefighters from the Slavonski Brod Public Fire Station immediately arrived at the scene, quickly removed the tree and secured the area.

In Zagreb, strong winds broke tree branches that fell on parked vehicles and roads, while a protective fence was also recorded falling on tram tracks and pieces of sheet metal were torn off from buildings. Citizens have notified the 112 Regional Center in Zagreb about the damage caused.

As can be seen in the images published on social networks, the city of Nashice fared worse, where hail the size of hazelnuts fell.

In Pozhegë, bad weather has caused trees and branches to fall on the road, the destruction of benches, and defects in the electricity network.

A similar situation has been recorded in the Belovar region, where citizens have reported fallen trees and branches, roof damage, electrical grid faults, and layers of mud and gravel on the roads.

In the Sisak-Moslavina County, especially in the Kutina area, citizens have reported flooding of buildings, falling trees on power lines, and defects in the power grid. /Telegraph/
