A "small G-class" is being prepared, the price does not match the name

Mercedes is developing a smaller, all-electric version of the G-Class, known as the "Little G", which is scheduled to hit the market in 2027.

The aim is to reach the growing market for powerful electric SUV models, such as the Land Rover Defender Sport.

Even though it is the "little brother" of the legendary G-Class, this model will not be "harmed" at all, reports the Telegraph.

It will be based on the new MB.EA platform, with a unibody structure, an 800V electrical system and a range of more than 700 kilometers per WLTP cycle.

Modeled after the original G-Class, it will retain its boxy design, spare wheel in the tailgate, retro turn signals.

However, it will use more aerodynamic solutions, with lower air resistance than the current G580 EQ model.

Inside, it will offer five seats, a digital instrument cluster and a cabin inspired by the new CLA model. It will be powered by new eATS 2.0 electric motors, and in the most powerful versions it is expected to produce up to 482 horsepower.

Although it will retain a "small g", the price will not be small - a starting price of around 81,000 euros is expected, which is still well below the 210,000, which is the cost of the current EQG. /Telegraph/
