A new Netflix series with a strange title that has already won over critics: It's based on a real case

The series "Apple Cider Vinegar" is a new addition to Netflix's offering and with its title, which Forbes calls strange (apple vinegar), it won over critics with a story based on a true case from Australia.

Netflix recently added a series to its offering starring actress Kaitlyn Dever, which a critic called Forbes calls her one of the most underrated actresses on the market.

Dever stars in the series “Apple Cider Vinegar” alongside Alycia Debnam-Carey from “The 100” and “Fear the Walking Dead,” and the series also includes actress Aisha Dee from “The Bold Type.”

"Apple Cider Vinegar" is a strangely titled series that is receiving good reviews and currently has an 82 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics. Forbes also points out that Dever is particularly attracting attention and has received many accolades for her role in the series.

The series is based on a true story that is very disturbing, it further states.

The series' script description reads: "It's been a decade since it was revealed that Australian health entrepreneur Belle Gibson, who was presented on Instagram as a game-changer 'with brain cancer and an obsession with food', did not actually have a malignant brain tumor. In 2017, Gibson was convicted of fraud and fined $40 in Australia."

Dever plays the character Gibson, and the story is based on a book about the whole affair, “The Woman Who Fooled the World: The True Story of Fake Health Guru Belle Gibson,” written by journalists Beau Donelly and Nick Toscano.

The central point of the story was that Gibson said she was treating her non-existent cancer with healthy meals and alternative medicine (one solution is apple cider vinegar) which led to building an empire. /Telegraph/
