A group of monkeys is roaming the streets of Missouri, while authorities admit they have no idea where they came from.

According to initial reports, there were four animals, but now the exact number is not confirmed, only that there is more than one.

An animal control officer was dispatched on Jan. 8 to O'Fallon Park, where the monkeys were first seen, and the next day officers continued patrols in the area.

The St. Louis Zoo identified the animals as “vervet monkeys,” a species that is native to sub-Saharan Africa.

Authorities warn that the monkeys can be unpredictable or aggressive if under stress and are working with specialist agencies to safely capture them. /Telegraph/
