A day ago he announced "the world's smartest artificial intelligence", Elon Musk keeps his promise - today Grok 3 is presented

People may be ditching X for Bluesky at record levels, but Elon Musk's push to turn X into a serious AI platform is still going strong with the release of a new version, Grok 3.

According to Reuters, Grok 3 will be released today at 20 p.m. In a call to the World Government Summit in Dubai last week, Musk described Grok 00 as "smart," saying it represented a big step forward over Grok 3 with improved reasoning, computing power and adaptability, the Telegraph reports.

Hinting that his latest chatbot could now compete with ChatGPT and DeepSeek, Musk continued: "Grok 3 has very powerful reasoning capabilities, so in the tests we've done so far, Grok 3 is outperforming everything that's been published that we're aware of, so that's a good sign."

On the call, Musk also talked about Grok 3's ability to reduce the curse of AI chatbots, the errors that creep into AI - often called 'hallucinations' - by going back and forth through the data and trying to achieve logical consistency, so if there is erroneous data that doesn't fit reality, it will reflect on it and remove the error.

He also revealed that Grok 3 was trained using more computing power than any other Grok model to date, and that a lot of synthetic data was used in the training process.

There is still no news about Grok's most controversial feature, its image generation capability, and how this will be improved in Grok 3.

xAI offers some of the best photorealistic renderings of images thanks to its use of the Flux AI model, and in December announced that it was using a new Auroria image model.

In a statement, xAI said: “Aurora is an autoregressive expert mixture network trained to predict the next sign from related text and image data. We trained the model with billions of examples from the internet, giving it a deep understanding of the world. As a result, it excels at photorealistic interpretation and accurately following text instructions.”

Beyond text, the model also has native support for multimodal data, allowing it to draw inspiration from or directly modify images provided by the user.

Grok differs from other AI image generators because it allows you to create images of celebrities, cartoon superheroes, and politicians, seemingly without limitations.

Grok can be accessed through Musk's social media platform X, even at the free tier, but it also has an app for mobile devices and image analysis recently added to its list of features.

Premium and Premium+ users receive higher usage limits. It is currently unclear whether Grok 3 will initially be available for free to all users or only to Premium and Premium+ users. /Telegrafi/
