A contestant on 'Celebrity Big Brother' in England surprises the public with information from outside - he knows that Katy Perry has traveled to space

The latest episode of the British reality show "Celebrity Big Brother UK" has caused an unexpected reaction among the public, after a surprising comment made by one of the participants, Chris Hughes.

He mentioned that world-famous singer Katy Perry had traveled to space - a statement that aroused curiosity and suspicion, given that the residents of the house are isolated and have no access to outside news, writes Dailymail.

In a conversation with actor Jack P. Shepherd, Chris asked him: "If you had the chance to go to space like Katy Perry, would you go?" Jack's reaction was immediate and full of surprise: "She went to space?! Why Katy Perry?".

This strange interaction made the rounds on social media, where many users began to speculate about how Chris could have known about such an event while he is isolated from the outside world.

But, for those who were unaware, Katy Perry was one of five women who on April 14, 2025, participated in a suborbital trip with the New Shepard spacecraft, organized by the space company Blue Origin.

In addition to her, Lauren Sanchez, the fiancée of billionaire Jeff Bezos, renowned journalist Gayle King, film producer Karianne Flynn, former NASA scientist Aisha Bowe and activist Amanda Nguyen were also on this mission. This initiative aimed to highlight the involvement of women in space exploration.

After returning to Earth, Perry was seen kissing the ground in a moment that symbolically marked her return, but was interpreted by many as excessive. There was no shortage of criticism, especially from those who compared this moment to the more measured and professional returns of experienced astronauts.

“Imagine being an astronaut who spent nine months in space and then seeing Katy Perry kissing the ground after just 10 minutes,” wrote one commenter on the X platform (formerly Twitter). Another added: “Katy Perry kissing the ground after a few minutes in space is just over the top. I wonder what Butch and Suni thought when they saw this.”

We are talking about astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams, who recently completed a long mission to the International Space Station and who returned to Earth calmly and professionally, without grand gestures.

Despite mixed reviews, Katy Perry's trip marks a historic moment for the involvement of female public figures in space exploration, drawing public attention and sparking new discussions about the role of pop stars in scientific and technological initiatives. /Telegraph/
