Competition opens for the design of the Memorial for Adem Jashari in Pristina

It has often been talked about at length why Pristina does not have a statue or something dedicated to the Jashari family. The Municipal Assembly of Pristina has already opened a competition in which it is waiting for projects for the construction of a memorial dedicated to the Jashari family. The same is planned to be built on the underpass that will be built on the “Agim Ramadani” street
Between the building of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo and the Stone Mosque, it is planned to build an underpass for vehicles and a memorial dedicated to Commander Adem Jashari and his family.
The Pristina Municipal Assembly has once again opened a tender, awaiting bidders for the design and construction of this memorial.
In the annex to the tender dossier, there are also technical specifications that are mandatory for economic operators who apply.
When telling the story of the Jashari family, it also mentions the similarities of this project with the vision of the mayor, Përparim Rama.
“Alignment with the vision of Mayor Rama: This project aligns with Mayor Rama’s vision for a contemporary, inclusive Pristina and a beacon of cultural heritage. The “Jashari Family Memorial” will contribute to this vision by: Preserving Historical Memory: Honoring the legacy of a key event in the history of Kosovo. Promoting universal values: The memorial, together with the surrounding public space, serves to mark in time and space the sacrifice for the universal value of living free. Improving the urban landscape: Integrating the memorial into the urban fabric of Pristina, creating an attractive and accessible public space.”
The Director for Transformation in the Municipality of Pristina, Gezim Kastrati, said that this project is expected to take shape as soon as the central level gives the green light for the "Agim Ramadani" street.
"The underpass is scheduled to be completed in 8 to 12 months, but we have been waiting for 1.5 years and I think that with the arrangement of the square and the space of the underpass, we will have the square above, depending on the proposals that will come, it will be a square that will show the legacy, the genocide that happened to the Jashari family," emphasized Gezim Kastrati - Director for Transformation.
Kastrati also explained why the tender failed the first time.
"We will have the upper part that was foreseen and for the second time the international competition has been announced, because the first time we received a small number of competitors and the solutions were not sufficient, with all due respect to the competitors, now we are waiting for a project that will represent or show all that happened in Prekaz", declared Kastrati.
The total amount for this project is 150 thousand euros, and the contract for the design of the main project alone will be 125 thousand euros./TV Dukagjini/
