93 is the number of people who have lost their lives in fatal accidents in the country since January of this year to date.

Yes, candles were lit today on the occasion of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims by Tempulli College in cooperation with the Kosovo Police.

Organizer Muhamed Krasniqi called on drivers to be much more careful in traffic, as human lives are at stake.

"We just lit candles to remember the lives lost within the year 2025, not only in Kosovo, but also beyond... It has been 10 years since it was officially celebrated in Kosovo. Each lost life is a lost talent, love, so through this action we call on all drivers to be more careful with their actions because with the loss of a life, a pain begins in the family of loved ones and in society. Each of us who is on the road has legal responsibility for our actions. So far, we have managed to reduce the number of victims to 24 percent and by 2030, I hope that together with civic and institutional commitment we will fulfill this objective of the United Nations Organization", said Krasniqi.

Lieutenant Colonel in the Kosovo Police, Jeton Rexhepi, said that in the European Commission's Progress Report, Kosovo is listed among the safest countries in traffic.

"For 2024, both in the progress report and in the report presented by the European Commission three days ago, Kosovo was ranked among the safest countries in terms of fatalities in the region. In Kosovo, there are 93 victims who have lost their lives in road traffic. The Kosovo Police prioritizes road traffic. There must be more respect for the rules, more road infrastructure, but also the legal infrastructure part... There are 82 cases (for 11 months of 2025) in which 93 people have lost their lives," said Rexhepi.

This year marks the tenth year in Kosovo that people who have tragically lost their lives in road accidents are commemorated.
