73-year-old Australian loses driving license for 90 years due to repeated violations, now risks prison

Police caught a 73-year-old driver without a license again. Traffic police in New South Wales, Australia, stopped a 73-year-old driver who was driving despite a long ban.

A man whose driver's license was revoked until 2117 has been caught behind the wheel again, which will further delay his chance to regain his driver's license, the Telegraph reports.

The incident occurred this month when traffic police officers stopped a Subaru for a random check. Upon checking, they immediately identified the driver as a "long-time lawbreaker."

The man was immediately arrested and taken to Bathurst Police Station, where he was charged with driving while disqualified from operating a vehicle.

Also, a warrant has been issued for the confiscation of the license plates due to repeated violations. Believe it or not, this is the third time in the last five years that he has been caught driving without a driver's license.

New South Wales laws provide for up to six months in prison for a first offence of driving while banned, while repeated offences can result in up to 12 months in prison.

Given his history, the 73-year-old could face a harsher prison sentence. /Telegraph/
