Cases of suspected vote buying and influence in the voting process are also being reviewed by justice institutions, and one such case is recently being handled in the Prizren court.

According to lawyer Arber Jashari, this action can generally cost up to 5 years in prison.

120 euros for one vote.

This is the case for which the Prosecution in Prizren has filed an indictment in court, where Y.Rr. and BK are accused of interfering in the voting process.

Although, this is not the first case reported during election periods.

But does the same punishment apply to both the perpetrator and the intermediary?

"The Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo has provided for 11 offenses against voting rights, or criminal offenses against electoral integrity, where giving and receiving bribes is one of the criminal offenses sanctioned under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo and means that anyone who promises, offers or gives an undeserved gift or favor to someone with the intention of getting them to vote for a certain person can be sentenced to up to 5 years in prison, but the person who played the role of an intermediary can also be sentenced to up to 5 years in prison," lawyer Arbër Jashari stated on Tëvë1.

The lawyer says that a tradition has now been created in Kosovo regarding these criminal offenses.

"Since election day, we have had an extraordinary mobilization of the prosecution to preserve the integrity of the elections, and in Kosovo, people who abused voting rights have been convicted, and this happened on a more massive scale in 2010-2014, while in recent years or recent elections, it has been greatly reduced, some individuals have been convicted, but they have been isolated cases and they have not caused any concern."

According to the Kosovo Police, around 80 prosecutors and support staff of the prosecutorial system were engaged for the second round of the mayoral elections alone.

Also, the Kosovo Police had drafted an operational plan for the smooth running of the entire election process.
