A 36-year-old MD, resident in Italy, was arrested in flagrante delicto at the Port of Durres during the police operation codenamed "Asset".
He was arrested after a search found 223,200 euros in his backpack, which he was attempting to take out of Albania without declaring at the border crossing.
The procedural materials were passed to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office, where investigations are continuing to determine the source of this money.
Police notification:
As a result of detailed controls and verifications at the entry/exit of Albania, with the objective of preventing and combating border crimes, the Border Police services of the port of Durrës, in cooperation with the customs authorities, finalized the "Asset" operation.
During the operation, the Albanian citizen, MD, 36 years old, resident in Italy, was arrested in flagrante delicto, because 223,200 euros were found in his backpack, which he was attempting to take out of Albania, without declaring at the border crossing.
