15 months imprisonment and 12 euro fine to the accused for attacking members of KFOR and the Police in Zveçan

The Basic Court in Pristina, the Special Department has decided in the criminal case against the accused NO, for the criminal offense "Assault on an official person" and "Participation in a crowd that commits a criminal offense and hooliganism".

Accused NO was found guilty and sentenced to 15 months' imprisonment for the criminal offense of "Assault on an official", which sentence will be executed immediately after this verdict becomes final.

In the press release, it is announced that the time spent in detention from 23.06.2023 will be counted towards the imposed prison sentence.

The accused NO was found guilty and was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for the criminal offense of "Participating in a crowd that commits a criminal offense and hooliganism", in accordance with Article 44 paragraph 1 of the KPRK, with the consent of the accused's prison sentence is replaced by a fine, in the amount of twelve thousand 12.000 euros, which sentence must be paid within 15 days after the full force of this judgment.

In the event that the accused does not want or cannot pay the fine, the court, in accordance with Article 43 paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code, will replace the fine with imprisonment, counting 20 euros for one day of imprisonment .

By special decision, the accused NO is continued in custody until the duration of the sentence, but not more than the sentence imposed by the judgment of the Basic Court in Pristina.

The accused is obliged to pay the costs of the procedure, in the name of the judicial lump sum amount of one hundred and 100 €, within 15 days after the finality of this judgment, the accused is also obliged to pay in the name of compensation to the victims of the crime the amount of 100 euros, within 15 days after the finality of this judgment.

On 29.05.2023, in the time interval starting from 06:00 until the evening hours, in the perimeter in which the object of the Municipality of Zveçan is located, the accused NO in coordination with many other defendants of Serbian nationality from Kosovo and Serbia, had actively participated in the group of persons in the commission of serious criminal offences, in such a way that through the use of violence they had attacked and threatened the soldiers of the KFOR peacekeeping mission, using strong means, explosive means of improvised explosive devices as well as firearms from which at least 30 members of the KFOR peacekeeping forces were injured, three of them from the projectiles of firearms as well as several members of the Kosovo Police, who were on official duty to guaranteed public order and tranquility for all citizens in that part, and that with these actions they had seriously endangered the lives and bodies of these official persons, to whom serious bodily injuries had also been caused.

Dissatisfied parties have the right to appeal to the Court of Appeal of Kosovo, through the Basic Court in Pristina. /Telegraph/
