100 million euros? Even this did not convince the Real Madrid star to leave the Bernabeu for Abramovich's Chelsea

Former Real Madrid player Raul Gonzalez rejected a €100m offer from Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich in 2003, according to the player's agent, Gines Carvajal. Raul reportedly "didn't even consider the move".

Speaking to The Sun in 2010, Carvajal said that despite many English clubs showing interest in the Spanish striker, only the London club made a “formal proposal.” However, Raul did not consider this as he did not want to leave Real Madrid.

"Many English clubs have been interested in Raul in the past, but the only official proposal was from Chelsea," Carvajal said. "Ranieri (then Chelsea manager Claudio) wanted Makelele and Raul."

"So the same people at Chelsea who negotiated for Makelele contacted me and Madrid offered €100m (then a world record £70m), but Raul didn't consider the offer because he simply didn't think of leaving Madrid," he added.
